Libraries are a community focal point, so the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has prepared a packet of informational materials that is available to read at the library or via the web. FEMA distributed this packet to public libraries in the counties where the flooding in August resulted in a federal disaster declaration. The packet includes information on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and other methods of mitigation and prevention. This information will help citizens recover from the recent flood and prepare for a stronger, more sustainable home and community. The publications are: Above the Flood: Elevating Your Flood Prone House FEMA-347 Answers to Questions About the NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program) FEMA-084 Homeowner's Guide to Retrofitting - Six Ways to Protect Your House from Flooding FEMA-312 Living in the Floodplain WI-DNR Repairing Your Flooded Home FEMA-234 Taking Shelter from the Storm: Building a Safe Room Inside Your House FEMA-320 Duplicate copies are available by contacting:FEMA Publications P.O.
